Hon. Drew Charles Takaichi
Judge
Judge Drew Takaichi was appointed to the bench in 2010. He is a graduate of Santa Clara University School of Law, and was in private civil practice for 29 years prior to appointment. Judge Takaichi has previously served in the civil division as a case manager and trial judge, supervising judge and direct calendar judge in the criminal law division, and direct calendar judge in the family law division. Judge Takaichi was named the John Foley Trial Judge of the Year in 2018, and is a frequent panel member for continuing education programs for the bench and bar.
Hon. Sunil R. Kulkarni

Santa Clara County Superior Court Judge Sunil R. Kulkarni joined the bench in October 2013 and currently has a complex civil litigation assignment. He is currently the supervising judge of his court’s civil division. Before his current assignment, Judge Kulkarni had many different civil and criminal assignments, including civil law and motion and civil trials. Before becoming a judge, Judge Kulkarni worked as a senior litigation counsel for the University of California for almost 3 years. Prior to that, he was a partner and associate with the Palo Alto office of Morrison and Foerster LLP for 13 years, specializing in intellectual property and securities litigation. He also was a law clerk for the Honorable Oliver W. Wanger, U.S. District Court (E.D. Cal.), from 1996 to 1997. Judge Kulkarni received his law degree with high honors from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law (now UC Law San Francisco) in 1996, and his undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering with honors from the University of California, Berkeley in 1993.
