John Michael Phelps

John Phelps passed the California bar exam on his first attempt and has been licensed as a California attorney since December 1975. He has held the top AV rating from Martindale Hubbel for more than 40 years, and has been listed for many years in the Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers. Mr. Phelps graduated cum laude from Princeton University in 1971, and graduated from Hastings College of the Law (now University of California at San Francisco School of Law) with a J.D. in 1975. After working for an agency of the Federal government for a year and after working for a medium sized law firm for four years, he opened the Law Offices of J. Michael Phelps in 1982 and has operated his own law practice since then. Mr. Phelps is the author of the Partition chapter in the CEB Real Property Remedies book.
