Gayani Weerasinghe

Gayani R. Weerasinghe is a business law and intellectual property (IP) attorney with her own firm. Her practice supports biotech/biopharma clients and other entrepreneurs, helping them with their transactional needs, including legal strategy, setting up a business or partnership, filing trademarks, IP licensing, IP due diligence, and offering part-time in-house counsel services. Ms. Weerasinghe has been practicing Business Law and Intellectual Property Attorney since 2014. She has a J.D. with a concentration on Intellectual Property, honors, from California Western School of Law; a Masters in Biology from Johns Hopkins University; a diploma from the European Intellectual Property and Biotechnology Summer Program, from the University of Giessen, Germany; and a B.S. in Molecular Cell Biology from California State University Northridge. Ms. Weerasinghe has worked both in-house at a public biopharma and with law firms before launching her own practice in 2019. She has been recognized as a Super Lawyers Rising Stars from 2020 to 2023 and is the former co-editor of the San Diego Lawyer Magazine. Ms. Weerasinghe has also been recognized as one of the "Leaders of Influence in Life Science" by the San Diego Business Journal for 2021, 2022, and 2023.
