Michael Shipley is a partner in the general litigation practice group at Kirkland & Ellis LLP in its downtown Los Angeles office. He has a diverse litigation practice that includes commercial, securities, governance, and entertainment litigation in state and federal courts, as well as white collar criminal defense. Mr. Shipley graduated magna cum laude from the school now known as the University of California College of the Law, San Francisco in 2004. Following that, he spent almost three years as a law clerk to Judges George King and David Carter in the Central District of California. Mr. Shipley has been with Kirkland & Ellis since 2007. Since 2013, Mr. Shipley has been the author of “111 North Hill Street: A Blog of California Civil Procedure,” where he writes on issues of state court civil and appellate procedure and evidence.
