Stefan S. Lawrence

Stefan Lawrence is Payments Counsel for Early Warning Service, LLC. His practice is focused on payments, helping to navigate the legal and regulatory requirements of payment processing and services. Mr. Lawrence’s responsibilities include: contract drafting and review; ensuring compliance with laws and regulations, including PCI compliance and payment network rules; advising on privacy, data security, and incident prevention and response; and marketing reviews.

Mr. Lawrence has a J.D. from the University of San Francisco School of Law and a BS in Business Administration from San Francisco State University. He has significant experience in the banking and payments arena. Prior to his current role, Mr. Lawrence spent the past 20 years representing the banking industry, both in-house and as outside counsel.

Mr. Lawrence currently serves as co-chair of the California Lawyers Association's Consumer Financial Services Committee, and is a member of the Financial Institutions Committee. He is a past recipient of Wells Fargo's Enterprise Diversity Award; chaired Union Bank's SERVE employee resource group for service members and veterans; and formed First Republic Bank's DiverseABILITY employee resource group.
