Sarah A Van Voorhis

Sarah Van Voorhis is a founding partner of Van Voorhis & Sosna LLP, a San Francisco law firm dedicated exclusively to resolving family law matters for clients throughout the Bay Area. Her practice focuses on complex marital and domestic partner dissolutions, including property allocation and division, child custody issues, parentage or paternity, child support, spousal support, and the legal aspects of custodial and non-custodial parent relocation. Ms. Van Voorhis regularly drafts prenuptial/postnuptial agreements and also serves as the reviewing attorney for such agreements.

Ms. Van Voorhis received her J.D. from Stanford Law School and her BA from the University of Utah. She is also one of only a small percentage of California attorneys who have been certified as Specialists in Family Law by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization.

Ms. Van Voorhis is a highly experienced divorce and family law attorney with a distinguished career in the Bay Area. She has consistently received recognition from Super Lawyers magazine since 2009, including being named one of the Top 100 Attorneys in Northern California from 2015 to 2018, and 2020 to 2023, as well as one of the Top 50 Women in Northern California from 2013 to 2023. Ms. Van Voorhis is a former chairperson of the Family Law Advisory Commission for the State Bar of California and acts as a settlement officer for the San Francisco County Unified Family Court.
