Rahman Popal is the founder of The Law Firm For Tenant Rights, Inc. He represents tenants throughout California facing unfair housing practices, including wrongful/constructive evictions; uninhabitable and dilapidated premises; water leaks and mold issues; landlord harassment; lockouts; landlord retaliation; discriminatory housing practices; live/work units; and illegal rent increases.
Mr. Popal graduated from the University of San Francisco School of Law in 2014. Upon graduating, he was an immigration fellow representing detained undocumented immigrants. Mr. Popal practiced deportation defense for two years before joining a tenant rights firm in 2016, which has been his only area of practice since then. He practiced tenant rights litigation for five years with a large tenant rights firm in San Francisco and opened his own practice in July 2021.
Super Lawyers honored Mr. Popal as a Northern California Rising Star Attorney in 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024. He has published numerous articles on landlord-tenant matters.
