Michael Thomas O'Halloran

Michael O'Halloran has represented debtors in insolvency situations for over 40 years, in matters ranging from $10,000 to $25,000,000. He represented bankruptcy trustees for most of the 1980s, giving him experience with trustee realities. Mr. O'Halloran has been a certified Specialist in Bankruptcy for decades. He has written and lectured extensively on insolvency topics.

Mr. O'Halloran grew up in Riverside, California. He graduated from college at University of California, San Diego with dual BA degrees. His law degree is from the University of Southern California circa 1981. Mr. O'Halloran was a full time judicial law clerk to Hon. Herbert Katz, Chief Bankruptcy Judge for the Southern District of CA. He has had his own practice since 1987.

Mr. O'Halloran has been an author for CEB since 2005, discussing insolvency topics. He has been the Volunteer of the Year for many San Diego pro bono legal service programs. Mr. O'Halloran is listed as a Super Lawyer and in Best Lawyers in America, including as one of the Top 50 in San Diego. He taught consumer bankruptcy law in an LL.M. program at Thomas Jefferson School of Law.
