Jennifer Ganata
Senior Staff Attorney at Communities for a Better Environment
Jennifer Ganata joined Communities for a Better Environment (CBE) in September 2018 as a senior staff attorney. Previously, she worked at CBE from 2007 to 2012 as a youth organizer and a legal fellow. Ms. Ganata transitioned from doing environmental justice work to housing justice by starting her housing career at Eviction Defense Network. Before returning to CBE, she was a senior staff attorney at Inner City Law Center, where she did eviction defense and land use.
Ms. Ganata has a BA in Ethnic Studies, as well as a minor in Urban Studies and Planning from University of California, San Diego. She received a J.D. from City University of New York (CUNY), where she was trained through the Adult Defender Clinical program. Ms. Ganata also has a LL.M. from the University of California, Los Angeles, where she focused mainly on Critical Race Studies.
Ms. Ganata is a member of the Philippine American Bar Association, as well as the National Lawyers Guild-Los Angeles Chapter. Recently, she joined the executive committee for the California Lawyers Association, Environmental Law Section.
