Curtis L. Briggs
Attorney at Briggs Law
Curtis Briggs, a criminal defense trial attorney, has played a vital part in some of the most significant cases in recent California history. He has represented clients in over 24 jurisdictions in practice areas ranging from homicide, RICO, white-collar, and narcotics. Mr. Briggs is also a public speaking coach for trial attorneys and Fortune 500 executives.
Mr. Briggs attended law school later in life after his involvement in the justice system as a criminal defendant. He attended Golden Gate University School of Law as a Public Interest Scholarship recipient before becoming an attorney with a reputation for litigating high profile cases, as well as an outspoken critic of public officials.
Mr. Briggs led the team that secured an acquittal for Max Harris, the young artist charged with 36 counts of manslaughter in the notorious “Ghost Ship Fire” tragedy. He and his team succeeded in having the entire San Luis Obispo District Attorney's Office recused from the nationally publicized case involving 7 Black Lives Matter protestors. Mr. Briggs’ team has successfully litigated on behalf of California's longest-serving death row inmate, Douglass Stankewitz, after revealing extreme misconduct on the part of the Fresno Police Department.
