VALERY T. MCGINTY

VALERY T. MCGINTY represents plaintiffs exclusively on appeal, with a focus on overturning summary judgments and affirming plaintiffs’ verdicts. She was lead appellate counsel in Young v. Horizon West (2013) 220 Cal.App.4th 1122, for which CAOC named her the 2014 Street Fighter of the Year together with trial counsel Kathryn Stebner and Kirsten Fish. She was an amicus attorney representing CAOC and CELA in the favorable California Supreme Court decision Sonic-Calabasas v. Moreno (2013) 57 Cal.4th 1109. In 2012, Valerie was a finalist for CAALA’s Ian Herzog Appellate Lawyer of the Year Award. Valerie serves on the boards of CAOC, San Mateo County Trial Lawyers Association, and Santa Clara County Trial Lawyers Association.

DANIEL U. SMITH is the senior partner in the San Francisco appellate law firm of Smith & McGinty. For 35 years, Mr. Smith has specialized in civil appeals in the U.S. Supreme Court, Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and California's Supreme Court and Courts of Appeal. He is a Certified Appellate Specialist (State Bar Bd. Of Legal Specialization) and belongs to the California Academy of Appellate Lawyers.
