Welcome to OnLAW®, CEB’s online legal research database of practice guides, commentary and sample forms. Here you’ll find expert legal analysis and practical advice—written by and for California judges and lawyers. In this free half-hour MCLE class tailored to the litigator, we explore OnLAW’s functionality. We start with accessing the database (please note that depending on your subscription, your employer may provide direct access to OnLAW without the need to sign in). We then review how to browse the guides using the table of contents and how to scroll using next and previous section. We learn how to find documents using the quick search feature, and how to further search by using word combinations, statute section, and case and form names. We link out to the cited primary case law and explore attorney-drafted, court and government forms. Depending on your subscription, you may have the ability to bookmark items in OnLAW, and we review how to do so, as well as how to manage search result lists, and finally how to print.
