CASSANDRA M. FERRANNINI

Cassandra M. FerranniniCassandra M. Ferrannini is recruiting partner at the Sacramento office of Downey Brand LLP. In her counseling practice, she guides public and private employers through the complicated and sometimes contradictory maze of federal and state regulations. In doing so, she frequently encounters and resolves issues ranging from employee terminations to designing, implementing, or auditing comprehensive, company-wide, employment policies. Ms. Ferrannini defends public entities, staffing companies, restaurant owners and internet start-ups against a variety of employment claims, including class actions, wage and hour, sexual harassment, discrimination, wrongful termination, ERISA, and fraud—all with great success. Clients value Cass as a “creative thinker and problem solver” who finds outside-the-box strategies. As employees and information become increasingly mobile, she safeguards her clients' confidential information by bringing and defending numerous actions involving misappropriation of trade secrets and unfair competition, achieving effective resolution. Ms. Ferrannini frequently writes and speaks about a variety of issues concerning employment and electronic discovery and is devoted to developing unique strategies for protecting confidential and private information in the social media age. She has been a contributing editor to two industry treatises published by the American Bar Association, Section of Labor and Employment: Covenants Not to Compete: A State by State Survey, and Employee Duty of Loyalty: A State by State Survey.

ELIZABETH B. STALLARD

Elizabeth B. StallardElizabeth B. Stallard is a partner with the Sacramento office of Downey Brand LLP. Ms. Stallard advises clients with workforce management issues and efficiently resolves disputes through either litigation or alternative dispute resolution. Banks, mall owners, trade associations, manufacturers, and other businesses and individuals rely on Ms. Stallard for counsel in disputes with employees, business associates, and customers, in subject areas ranging from intellectual property to breach of contract to fraud and qui tam claims to environmental contamination. She has also been involved in the defense of several class actions, including currently serving as lead counsel in a class action involving ADA accessibility at a major hospital group. Ms. Stallard has experience in all aspects of state and federal civil litigation at both the trial and appellate level, including discovery, motion practice, and alternative dispute resolution. She has represented clients involved in investigations by the EEOC, DFEH, Cal/OSHA, DLSE, DOJ, SEC, FAA, and other agencies, as well as represented those clients in related state and federal litigation and administrative proceedings. She also has a long and demonstrated record of successful and effective advocacy in front of state and federal courts in both California and Nevada, including serving as lead trial counsel in both states.

Robert Abiri

Robert Abiri is a partner with the firm of Abiri & Szeto LLP, with offices in Orange County and New York. Licensed to practice in California, New York, and Washington, DC, Mr. Abiri handles matters covering many major civil litigation areas, including business litigation, real estate disputes, personal injury, and wrongful death matters. Since entering law practice a decade ago, he has represented both plaintiffs and defendants, acquiring a unique grasp of the issues from both viewpoints, as well as representing both public entities and private sector/individuals. In addition to his case and trial work, Mr. Abiri has collaborated on amici curiae briefs, including one that supported a published opinion in the California Supreme Court. He has been named a Southern California “rising star” by Super Lawyers magazine for the past 7 consecutive years and is active in both legal and community-based organizations. In addition, Mr. Abiri has served as an update author for California Tort Guide California (3d ed Cal CEB) and Tort Damages (2d ed Cal CEB). He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, and his J.D. degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, School of Law.
