CEB PUBLISHES NEW TITLE ON ALTERNATIVE DISPUTE RESOLUTION
OAKLAND, CALIF.With the vast majority of legal disputes resolving without trial, more California attorneys are using alternative dispute resolution (ADR) processes such as negotiation, mediation, and arbitration to reach settlement. A new resource has just become available to help these attorneys sharpen their ADR skills and better serve their clients in noncourt settings. A Litigator's Guide to Effective Use of ADR in California, a brand new title from the Continuing Education of the Bar (CEB), takes California attorneys through every step of the ADR process. The authors include many litigators and ADR neutrals. They offer expert advice on choosing effective mediation strategies and on understanding the latest legal developments on mediation confidentiality and contractual arbitration. The Honorable J. Richard Haden, Retired Judge of the San Diego Superior Court and current ADR neutral, had this to say after reviewing an advance copy of the book: "A Litigator's Guide to Effective Use of ADR in California is a useful and comprehensive resource for those preparing for case negotiation, mediation, arbitration, and alternative dispute resolution in general. This one volume explains why ADR requires skills different from trial practice and provides countless practical tips for the practitioner."
